4:36 pm - Long Time, No Post...
|
Haven't had a real vacation in I don't know how long... Typically, when I have time off from school I just sign up to work more so I can get caught up on bills and what-not. This coming week I will be free of both school and work. I have spent the last two weeks working full time filling in for a coworker. I'll also be working extra the first week of Fall Term... so I don't feel too bad about taking a week for myself, and the next two paychecks will be tremendous.
Staycation Plans: Big brother is in town from OK, so we'll be hanging out a lot tomorrow and Tuesday. I have a lunch date with a friend on Wednesday. Friday, my little brother and I will be getting a few sections of his GED taken care of plus some lunch and quality time together. At some point on Sunday I'll be picking up a friend at the airport. Other than those things, the world is my oyster.
School: Just finished my fifth term at AOMA, which means I'm just getting started on my second year. This means that a lot of courses that are a series of three or four classes have all wrapped up and I'm starting some new and interesting course work. Grades are good. I'm planning on taking the first year Benchmark exam at the end of this coming term - sometime in December. If all goes well, I could be treating in the Student Intern clinic as soon as January.
Work: Things were the same old same old until two weeks ago when I volunteered to fill in for my bosses assistant... I haven't actually done any ophthalmic teching in months and it was nice to be back in the swing of things - on my feet, seeing patients, observing some interesting cases. It was really interesting. I've volunteered to fill in her for more often, perhaps even weekly.
Life: I'm hoping that this week off from work and school will bring me some much needed rest and relaxation. I've had a lot on my plate this past year and I've been pretty tightly wound. Hopefully a week off with nothing pressing on my mind will allow me to de-stress, sleep through the night, and clean the mental slate.

Is it funny that I had to give the guy on my acupuncture poster a construction paper fig leaf? I just couldn't stand staring at his junk.

4:18 pm - School Update
|
I went in today and signed up for my classes: Anatomy & Physiology 1, Biomedical Terminology, Foundations of Chinese Medicine 1, and Clinic Theater 1. I can't wait to buy my books and get into the classroom! I may even shell out the cost of the books out of my pocket just to get them early and get to reading!
I met with the Financial Aid Advisor: no more need to panic. I don't qualify for subsidized student loans, but I'll still be able to get UNsubsidized loans.
My plan is still to work as much as possible at both jobs between now and July 18th to save up as much money as I can. That extra money will come in really handy during the second week of classes when I'm waiting for the loans to pay out.

8:03 am - Common Fears Meme
|
( What are my Fears? )
Final Total: 16
If you get more than 30, I strongly recommend some counselling If you get more than 20, you’re paranoid. If you get 10-20, you are normal.----->(my friends would disagree!) If you get 10 or less, you’re fearless. People who don’t have any are liars.
Is there anything else you're afraid of?
Aliens, being helpless (because of debilitating disease or injury), honeycomb patterns including corrugated cardboard (it's an OCD thing).

10:17 am - Update
|
I finished filling out my FAFSA last night. Today, I called and requested a formal transcript be sent from ACC to AOMA. Then, I called AOMA and set up my interview for the first week in June.
It's very annoying to be in an in between state with both school and the house. Having the FAFSA and the transcript both squared away and the interview scheduled feels good. Still keeping my fingers crossed though.

4:27 pm - Grades
|
Looks like ACC grades are finally in...
Two more A's, which brings my total to three A's. Considering that two of those A's are in FIVE hour courses, I've successfully managed to boost my GPA.
Now, I need to get an official transcript on its way over to AOMA and set up a meeting with them. If I had thought about it an hour ago, I could have called ACC and requested a transcript over the phone. It'll have to wait until tomorrow. I HATE waiting.
PLUS, I'm almost done with my FAFSA. Having some PIN issues, but they should be resolved in a day or two. I hope it all works out. I'm a little anxious about the financial aid.

I have some friends (Girls with Vices) who are playing at The Parlor tonight at 9pm. I know it's a Tuesday night and all, but all you non-foggies out there should come see it! I'm going to try to be there a couple hours early to grab a bite to eat and visit. Let me know it you're able to make it and maybe we can meet up.

3:15 pm - Hair Indecision
|
Summer is upon us and I'm itching to change my hair... I've already lightened it up from Betty Page Black to Dark Auburn. In the next couple weeks I'll be lightening it up even more.
The question is... Do I chop it all off? It is the longest it's been in 15 years or more! When curly, it reaches mid-back, right about bra line. When it's straight (or wet) it reaches much further. I'm planning on getting a slight trim when I go in for new color, but what I'm struggling with is whether or not it's time for a BIG change.
What do you guys think?
